Oct. 7, 2014 – A quarry is going to be a movie star. Filming of “Where Heaven & Hell Collide,” a military-themed movie, began recently at the Lafarge quarry operation in Lockport, NY. The film focuses on the stories of four wounded service members and is set to be released in 2016. According to the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office, there was military vehicles in the area, simulated gunfire and small explosions. Of course maybe the most famous use of a quarry in film is the climactic scene of the movie “Dirty Harry,” in which Clint Eastwood’s Harry Calahan character finally confronts the serial killer Scorpio, played by Andy Robinson. It was filmed in Marin County, Calif., at the Hutchinson’s Rock Quarry, on the site of what is now Larkspur Landing Shopping Center and Larkspur Shores Apartments. “Do you feel lucky, punk?”
